Inshield Solutions builds the intelligence infrastructure that motor insurers rely on — turning complex data into confident underwriting decisions.
Our Products
We build precision data platforms that help motor insurance professionals make faster, smarter, and more protected underwriting decisions.
Our underwriting intelligence platform consolidates every critical data check — DVLA, vehicle history, adverse media and more — into a single seamless workflow. One input. Complete risk picture. Instant.
Inshield Solutions is continuously developing new intelligence tools for the insurance sector. Our next product is already in development — built on the same commitment to clarity, speed, and confidence.
In DevelopmentWhy Inshield
We are not a generic data company that pivoted into insurance. We are an insurtech company that was built from day one for the motor insurance market.
Founded by insurance professionals with hands-on underwriting experience. We know the workflows, the pain points, and exactly what matters at point of quote.
Every feature in our platform was designed around real underwriting needs — not adapted from another sector. That specificity is our competitive advantage.
ICO registered. Cyber Essentials certified. ISO 27001 aligned. We hold our data governance to the standard that financial services demands — before anyone asks.

How It Works
CURAS removes the complexity of running multiple checks across multiple systems. Submit once, get everything back in a single consolidated report.
Enter policyholder and vehicle details once. CURAS instantly dispatches checks across all connected data sources simultaneously — no duplication, no switching systems.
DVLA licence verification, vehicle history, adverse media screening and more — returned within seconds in a single, structured, auditable report.
Your underwriter receives a clear risk profile. Make informed decisions faster, reduce exposure, record the outcome — all in one place, with full audit trail.
Capabilities
CURAS brings together the data sources that matter most in motor underwriting into a single auditable workflow.
Instantly validate driving licence status, entitlements, endorsements and penalty points direct from DVLA — no manual checks, no delays, no risk of error.
Uncover outstanding finance, write-off status, mileage anomalies, stolen markers and full ownership history for every vehicle at risk.
Screen proposers against news sources, public records and online data for reputational risk flags — surfacing information that standard checks miss entirely.
Every data point returned in one structured, auditable report. No toggling. No manual collation. Clear intelligence, ready to act on — and stored for compliance.

Request a DemoAbout Us
Inshield Solutions was founded by insurance professionals who experienced first-hand the inefficiencies, blind spots and missed risks that come from fragmented underwriting data.
We built the tools we always needed but could never find — and now we bring them to the wider market.
Our Mission
Motor insurance is a complex market. Underwriters are asked to make high-stakes decisions, often under time pressure, with incomplete information. We believe that is not acceptable.
Our mission is to consolidate the data that matters — instantly, accurately, and in one place — so that every underwriting decision is made with complete intelligence.
Our Values
We hold our data to the highest standard of accuracy. Underwriting decisions have real consequences — the intelligence behind them must be reliable.
Powerful technology should be invisible. Our platforms are designed so underwriters can focus on decisions — not on navigating complexity.
We handle sensitive data with the utmost responsibility. Our security posture, compliance standards and data governance reflect the trust our clients place in us.
Compliance & Security
Fully registered with the Information Commissioner's Office. Our data handling processes comply with UK GDPR and all applicable data protection legislation.
Certified under the UK Government's Cyber Essentials scheme — demonstrating that our systems are protected against the most common cyber threats.
Our information security management is built to ISO 27001 standards — giving enterprise clients confidence in our data governance and risk management.

Get in TouchInshield Ltd ("Inshield", "we", "us", "our") is a UK-based insurtech company and the data controller responsible for personal data processed through the CURAS platform.
CURAS is a professional underwriting intelligence platform designed exclusively for use by insurance professionals, underwriters, and brokers. It consolidates third-party data checks — including driver licence verification, vehicle history, and adverse media screening — into a single automated workflow to support motor insurance underwriting decisions.
ICO Registration: Inshield Ltd is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under the Data Protection Act 2018. Registration reference: Pending Registration.
This Privacy Policy explains how Inshield collects, uses, stores, and shares personal data when the CURAS platform is accessed or used by authorised insurance professionals ("Platform Users").
CURAS is a business-to-business (B2B) service. The data subjects whose personal information is processed within the platform are third parties — typically motor insurance applicants, policyholders, or named drivers — whose data is submitted by Platform Users as part of an underwriting workflow.
CURAS is not intended for use by, or direct access from, members of the public. If you are an individual whose data has been processed through the CURAS platform and you wish to exercise your data subject rights, please contact us using the details in Section 13.
The CURAS platform processes personal data relating to individuals submitted by Platform Users for the purpose of underwriting checks. The categories of personal data processed include:
| Category | Data Elements | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Driver Identity | Full name, date of birth, driving licence number, address | Platform User / DVLA |
| Licence & Entitlement | Licence category, issue date, endorsements, penalty points, disqualifications | DVLA / DVSA |
| Vehicle History | Vehicle registration mark (VRM), VIN, finance outstanding, write-off category, ownership history | HPI / third-party vehicle data provider |
| Adverse Media | Name-based screening against publicly available news sources and media databases | Third-party news API / media screening tool |
| Platform User Data | Name, work email address, employer organisation, access logs, search history within the platform | Directly from Platform Users at registration |
We do not collect or process special category data (as defined under Article 9 UK GDPR) unless specifically required and a separate lawful basis established.
Personal data processed through CURAS is used for the following purposes:
| Purpose | Description |
|---|---|
| Underwriting checks | Facilitating driver licence verification, vehicle history checks, and adverse media screening on behalf of Platform Users |
| Risk assessment | Aggregating third-party data check results to support motor insurance underwriting decisions |
| Fraud prevention | Identifying discrepancies, flags, or adverse indicators relevant to insurance risk |
| Platform operation | Maintaining user accounts, access controls, audit logs, and platform security |

We do not use personal data processed through CURAS for direct marketing, profiling for non-underwriting purposes, or any purpose incompatible with those stated above.
We rely on the following lawful bases under UK GDPR Article 6 for processing personal data:
| Lawful Basis | Application |
|---|---|
| Legitimate Interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) | Processing driver, vehicle, and adverse media data to support insurance underwriting — a recognised and proportionate legitimate interest within the financial services sector. A Legitimate Interests Assessment (LIA) is maintained internally. |
| Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) | Processing Platform User data necessary to provide CURAS under our terms of service agreement |
| Legal Obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) | Where processing is required to meet our obligations under data protection law, fraud prevention obligations, or regulatory requirements |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have assessed that our interests do not override the fundamental rights and freedoms of data subjects. The use of data for insurance underwriting is an established, proportionate practice within the financial services industry.
CURAS retrieves data from third-party sources as part of its automated underwriting workflow. These providers are contractually bound to process data in accordance with UK GDPR, and appropriate Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) are in place.
Categories of third-party data sources used within the platform include:

| Vehicle data provider | HPI checks, outstanding finance, write-off markers, vehicle history |
| Adverse media / news screening | Publicly available news articles and media sources referenced against subject names |
Inshield acts as a data controller in respect of how retrieved data is stored and used within the platform. In some circumstances, Inshield may act as a data processor on behalf of Platform Users, depending on the contractual arrangements in place.
We do not sell personal data. We may share personal data in the following circumstances:
| Recipient | Reason |
|---|---|
| Platform Users (insurers / brokers) | Results of underwriting checks are returned to the authorised Platform User who initiated the query |
| Third-party API providers | Minimum data shared as required to retrieve check results (e.g. licence number passed to DVLA API) |
| Cloud infrastructure providers | Hosting and storage of platform data under DPA; data held within the UK/EEA |
| Legal or regulatory authorities | Where required by law, court order, or regulatory obligation (e.g. ICO, FCA) |
All third parties with whom we share personal data are subject to appropriate contractual safeguards. We do not transfer personal data outside of the UK or EEA without ensuring adequate protections are in place in accordance with UK GDPR Chapter V.
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law.
| Data Type | Retention Period | Reason |

| Platform User account data | Duration of contract + 2 years | Contractual and audit purposes |

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your personal data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
Inshield takes the security of personal data seriously. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, destruction, or disclosure. These measures include:
Encryption of data in transit (TLS) and at rest; role-based access controls for Platform Users; API key management and secure credential handling; audit logging of all data access and search activity; and regular security reviews.
Inshield is pursuing Cyber Essentials certification as part of its ongoing commitment to information security. In the event of a personal data breach that poses a risk to individuals, we will notify the ICO within 72 hours and affected parties as required under UK GDPR Article 33-34.

Inshield Ltd is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under Registration Reference: Pending Registration. Company Registration: 17181010.
Access to CURAS is strictly limited to Platform Users who have been granted access by Inshield on behalf of an Approved Organisation. Access is not open to the general public and is not available on a self-serve basis.
To be eligible for access, you must:
Inshield reserves the right to approve or reject access requests at its sole discretion, without obligation to provide reasons.
By accessing CURAS, you confirm that your organisation operates in compliance with applicable UK financial services regulation, including (where applicable) FCA authorisation or appointed representative status. CURAS checks access data regulated under the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR — use of the Platform for purposes outside of legitimate insurance underwriting is not permitted.
Subject to these Terms, Inshield grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use CURAS solely for the following purposes:
All use of CURAS must be in accordance with applicable law, including the Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR, and any sector-specific regulatory obligations applicable to your organisation.
Each Check submitted through the Platform must relate to a genuine, active insurance underwriting assessment. Speculative, bulk, or exploratory queries not connected to a live underwriting decision are not permitted.
You must not use CURAS in any of the following ways:
Misuse of data accessed through CURAS may constitute a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990, the Data Protection Act 2018, or other applicable legislation. Inshield reserves the right to report suspected unlawful activity to the appropriate authorities.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must not share your credentials with any other person, including colleagues within your organisation who have not been separately approved by Inshield.
You agree to notify Inshield immediately at support@inshield.co.uk if you become aware of any actual or suspected unauthorised access to your account or any security breach affecting the Platform.
Inshield maintains audit logs of all access and Check activity. Platform Users should have no expectation of anonymity in their use of CURAS. Activity logs may be reviewed by Inshield for compliance, security, and fraud prevention purposes.
Your Approved Organisation is jointly responsible for ensuring that all individuals it authorises to access CURAS comply with these Terms. Inshield may hold the Approved Organisation accountable for breaches committed by its authorised users.
The use of CURAS necessarily involves the processing of personal data relating to third-party individuals (such as insurance applicants and named drivers). Platform Users are responsible for ensuring that their use of the Platform is lawful and that a valid legal basis exists under UK GDPR for each Check submitted.
Inshield's collection and use of personal data in connection with the Platform is governed by the CURAS Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms by reference.
Where Inshield processes personal data on behalf of an Approved Organisation (acting as a data processor), a separate Data Processing Agreement (DPA) may be required. Platform Users should ensure that appropriate data sharing and processing agreements are in place between their organisation and Inshield prior to submitting Checks.
All intellectual property rights in CURAS — including the Platform's software, design, workflow logic, algorithms, user interface, branding, and documentation — are owned by or licensed to Inshield Ltd. Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property rights to you or your organisation.
Check Results incorporate data retrieved from third-party sources (including DVLA, HPI providers, and media databases). Ownership of such underlying data remains with the respective data owners. Inshield grants no licence over third-party data beyond what is necessary for your permitted use of the Platform.
You must not reproduce, copy, modify, adapt, or create derivative works from any part of the CURAS Platform without Inshield's prior written consent.

CURAS does not constitute underwriting advice. Check Results are data outputs to inform decision-making — they are not a recommendation to accept, decline, or amend any insurance risk. All underwriting decisions remain the sole responsibility of the Platform User and their organisation.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Inshield shall not be liable for:
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits Inshield's liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
